PE Midterm Reflection

11/10

Overall, I am proud of my performance during the midterm oral exam. As a beginner, Japanese is a hard language, with many nuances. While I want to make sure I am getting the grammar right, I also need to speak smoothly, and not appear as though I am struggling.

After meeting with Shibata and Sato sensei to discuss, they both suggested I come in once a week and practice conversing with new phrases we learned that week. Additionally, Shibata strongly suggested that when I am relaxing over the weekend that I should go on Speak Eveywhere and pick a clip to shadow. I think this is a great idea. So much of speaking Japanese words and phrases properly is practicing, practicing, practicing. Until I have the muscle memory of how to say a word/phrase with the correct pitch and rhythm, it will be hard to recreate the authentic sound accurately.

This is work, this is commitment. But I am willing to put the extra effort in to make sure I do not let a lack of familiarity get in the way of my performance in the future.
